Slovakia 5%, Romania 4.8%, Bulgaria 4.1%, Poland 3.8%, Czech Republic 3.4%, Hungary 1.5%. These GDP growth prospects 2009 now published by the Economist Intelligence Unit are not as gloomy as could have been expected in times of a global economic crisis. Especially when comparing to the negative figures of Western markets (UK -1%, Spain -0.6%, Italy -0.3%, France -0.1%, Germany 0.2%).

Slovak national media report today on the punchy marketing campaign, which weastra recently launched to awake further business potential within Slovak companies. National TV channel JOJ showed a video reportage showing the defusing of a ticking postal package by pyrotechnic experts at a company’s site. The worried employees had informed the police upon reception of the suspicious parcel.

08.05.2008, € comes to Central Europe!
The European Commission (EC) expressed today its ’yes’ for Slovakia’s euro-membership from 2009 onwards. As the first country in the Central European region the reform-champion Slovakia fulfilled all Maastricht criteria and looks to join the euro-area from next January 1st onwards - another strong stimulus is expected for its dynamic economy thanks to its excellent investment climate.
