A new term for the Schengen entry of Bulgaria and Romania has been set

24. October, 2011

Bulgaria along with Romania should be granted full Schengen entry by July 2012. This was one of the matters discussed by the Bulgarian Prime Minister Boiko Borissov during the European Council summit in Brussels.

The sea and air borders of both countries should be opened by March 2012 and their land borders are expected to open in July 2012.

The Bulgarian Prime Minister has thanked Mr. Herman Van Rompuy, the president of EC and Poland’s Prime Minister Mr. Donald Tusk for their support and reassured all participating countries that Bulgaria is prepared to join Schengen.

Leonard Orban, Romania’s minister is also hopeful that Romania will enter the passport-free zone even if there is still one more member state which is opposed to this entry.
