14. December, 2011

From July 1st, 2012 employers will be able to sack employees with immediate effect under the code MPs passed in a Socialist-initiated roll call ballot on December 13th, 2011.

The new labor code which is to be reinforced in July 2012 has the role of increasing security and economic performance as well as the employment rate in Hungary.

According to the Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán the unions weren’t able to defend workers and this task will pass to the government.

Compared to the rules of the outgoing law, the restriction on extra working hours rises from 200 to 250 hours per year while in the case of collective agreements this rises to a maximum of 300 hours.
